What is organizational psychology?

On different sources, it is also known as "Industrial & Organizational Psychology (I/O Psychology)", "Occupational Psychology", "Work and Organizational Psychology (W&O Psychology)", or just "Organizational Psychology".

So what is organizational psychology? Organizational psychology is a field or branch of psychology which applies the science of psychology on the organizations to improve the productivity of it and to improve the well-being and satisfaction of its members/representatives. According to the American Psychological Association, the specialty focuses on deriving principles of individual, group and organizational behavior and applying this knowledge to the solution of problems at work (Click for more).

Through improving performance, motivation, job satisfaction, occupational health, or through other ways of achievement, organizational psychologists lead to the success of an organisation. On the definition of the British Psychological Society, it is also written: "occupational psychologists may also design or use psychological tests, as a way of measuring people’s suitability for a particular role" (Click for more).

 

As an applied discipline, organizational psychology is one of the fastest-growing fields of psychology.
